While our Airstream was with Ronnie, Tera and John at Airstream Nuts and Bolts getting a ton of upgrades, we spent the week in the area of Dadeville looking for fun things to do. Ronnie was more than happy to give us a few ideas, including Horseshoe Bend National Military Park and The Smith Mountain Fire Tower. Both were great finds and interesting. Horseshoe Bend offered insight into how land was taken for the United States and how Andrew Jackson rose to the presidency. The Smith Mountain Fire Tower offered a spectacular view of Lake Martin, Dadeville, and we could see as far as Aubrun. The climb to the top was challenging, but the pay off was great. We also stopped at the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site, which is not far away. Here we learned about the importance of the Tuskegee Airmen, but we also learned that anyone who served there qualifies as an Airmen due to their contributions and that while they were fighting abroad, they were also becoming victorious in winning over the minds of the American people. All three of these are worth getting some time with and offer something to do in the area if you are getting upgrades with Airstream Nuts and Bolts.
