The fascinating story of Fort Frederica, America’s Lost Colony

Fort Frederica - America's lost colony that holds secrets waiting to be uncovered! We visit Fort Frederica National Monument on St. Simon's Island in Georgia. Fort Frederica barely resembles the military town that once flourished here. It was established in 1736 by General James Oglethorpe. Within 7 years it was a thriving town with nearly 1,000 residents and by 1758, just over 20 years from being founded, all of the residents and buildings had vanished. We tour this National Monument and explore the story of this vanishing colony.
